How does the Floating Dock system hold up to typhoon conditions?
Floating Dock's modular design and superior material quality hold up quite well in a typhoon depending on the installation. The flexible linking pins allow the dock to roll with the waves, dispersing dynamic stress. Our customers report excellent results for docks hit directly by major storms and typhoons.
Can I acquire the Floating Dock system if there is no dealer in my local area?
Yes. In geographic regions where a local dealer presence is not established, we facilitate direct factory export and shipping of your Floating Dock system to your nearest container freight terminal or custom port for customer pickup.
Can I leave my floating dock in the water during the winter season?
Absolutely. The dock system can be left in salt or fresh water all year round. The system is engineered to withstand freezing conditions. The structural angles of the modular cubes allow the entire dock structure to pop up on top of the ice sheet rather than being crushed.
How does moving ice affect the floating dock system?
The critical factor when dealing with winter ice is water flow and drift. If there is moving ice or heavy currents, you must assess if the ice will dissipate back into the water level upon thawing or if large blocks of heavy flowing ice will drift through. Moving pack ice will damage any stationary structure, including floating docks. In conditions with heavy moving ice sheets, we recommend seasonal removal.
How many cubes wide are required to ensure a stable walking platform?
The modular cubes can be configured for floating platforms, gangways, fingers, or custom shapes. For a stable pedestrian walkway, we recommend a minimum width of three cubes. This design supports standard body weights securely due to the balanced buoyancy of each individual modular unit (supporting approx. 200 lbs or 90 kg per cube).
Will the modular floating dock function properly in shallow water?
Yes. You can position the dock anywhere you can navigate your craft. The modular units only draw about 2 to 4 inches of water when unloaded. The critical measurement is at the stern/rear of the dock where boat drive-on actions occur. The system must be able to flex; resting directly on mud or sand during extreme low tides is acceptable, provided there is enough depth during operation for the boat to slide off.
