Yes. The modular dock system is designed to remain in the water year-round, including in freezing conditions and saltwater environments. The outer walls of our cubes are sloped, which allows the expanding ice to push the dock upward rather than crushing it. This avoids damage from freezing ice sheets, allowing the dock to sit safely on top of the ice throughout the winter.
The main factor is water flow and ice movement. If the ice thaws and melts in place, the dock can remain in the water safely. However, if your location experiences heavy spring currents with large, moving ice blocks, these can shear and damage any dock structure. In areas with active, moving ice flows, we recommend removing the modular dock before the winter freeze and storing it onshore.
