How does the Floating Dock system hold up to typhoons?
Floating Dock's modular design and superior quality hold up quite well in a typhoon depending on the installation. The secret lies in the flexibility of the locking pins, which allow the overall platform to bend with the wave motion rather than resist it rigidly. Our customers report excellent survival rates for systems located directly in high-velocity storm areas.
Can I get the Floating Dock system if there is no dealer in my area?
Yes. In areas where there is no local dealer presence, we can ship your Floating Dock system directly to your local freight terminal for pickup. Our optimized packaging configurations ensure shipping costs remain economical even for small-scale modular orders.
Can I leave my dock in during the winter time?
Absolutely. The dock can be left in all year round, even in saltwater environments. The Floating Dock system is designed to handle frozen ice; the unique dynamic slope of each cube allows the dock to rise and pop up on top of the expanding ice layer, preventing pressure damage.
How does ice flow affect the system?
The key factor is water flow and ice movement. If the ice thaws out and simply dissipates back into the water level, you can leave the dock in all year. However, if there is a heavy current carrying large blocks of moving flow ice, this movement could shear and tear stationary docks. Under heavy moving ice conditions, we recommend removing the system for the winter.
How many cubes wide must a stable walking platform be?
To ensure stability for walking, we recommend a platform width of at least three cubes. Each modular cube provides approximately 200 lbs (approx. 90 kg) of balanced buoyancy. Standard walkways of 3 or more cubes wide are extremely stable and handle regular foot traffic effortlessly.
Will the modular system work in shallow water?
Yes. The cubes draw only 2 to 4 inches of draft when unladen. The main criteria is that there must be sufficient depth at the tail of the dock to allow your boat or PWC to slide off and maneuver during low tide. The system can rest safely on mud or sand flats at low tide.
