How does the Floating Dock system hold up to typhoon?
Our floating dock's modular design and premium material quality help it withstand typhoons effectively, depending on the specific installation. Because the system is flexible, it moves with the water, absorbing and dissipating the kinetic energy of large waves rather than resisting them rigidly like steel or wood structures. Can I get Floating Dock system if there is no dealer in my area?
Yes, you can. In regions where we do not have a local distributor or dealer network, Shenghuang ships the modular pontoon system directly from our factory in China to your closest local ocean freight terminal. Our logistics team handles export clearance, providing you with detailed shipping manifests and tracking documentation.
Can I leave my dock in winter time?
Absolutely. The dock is designed to remain in the water year-round, including in saltwater environments and freezing conditions. The modular cubes are built to handle ice expansion. Thanks to the tapered side walls of the cubes, the freezing ice squeezes the system upward, letting the dock pop up on top of the ice sheet rather than getting crushed or locked below it.
How does ice affect the system?
The main factor to consider is water flow. If the ice freezes statically on a calm lake or bay, the dock will lift safely and sit on top of the ice. However, if there is a strong current or moving ice floes during the spring thaw, large shifting blocks of ice can shear and damage any stationary structures. In areas with heavy moving ice flows, we recommend dismantling and storing the dock during the off-season.
How many cubes wide for a stable walking platform?
You can configure the cubes into platforms, gangways, fingers, or custom shapes. For a stable walking platform, we recommend a minimum width of three cubes. At this width, the platform provides balanced buoyancy (supporting about 200 lbs/90 kg per cube) and remains stable to walk on, preventing listing or tipping when load is applied near the edges.
Will the system work in shallow water?
Yes. The cubes draw only 2 to 4 inches of water when unloaded. In areas with tidal flats where the water empties out, the system can rest directly on soft mud or sandy bottom without damage. Ensure there is enough water depth at the entry end of the dock when launching or backing boats off the platform.
