How does the Floating Dock system hold up to typhoons?

Yes. If you do not have a local distributor, we can ship your modular dock components directly to your nearest commercial ocean cargo port or domestic freight terminal. Can I leave my dock in during the winter?

Yes. The modular dock system can remain in the water year-round, including in freezing conditions and saltwater environments. The outer walls of our cubes are shaped to slide upward when ice expands. This design prevents the crushing forces of freezing ice sheets from damaging the structure, allowing it to rest safely on top of the ice.

How does ice flow affect the system?

The primary concern during winter is moving ice and water flow. If the ice thaws in place without strong currents, the modular dock can remain in the water. However, if your location experiences moving ice blocks during spring thaws, these heavy ice flows can shear and damage any structure. In areas with active, moving ice flows, we recommend removing the modular dock in late autumn and storing it on land.

How many cubes wide are required for a stable walking platform?

Our modular cubes can be assembled into various layouts, including walkways, finger piers, swim platforms, and work barges. For a stable walking platform, we recommend a minimum width of three cubes (approximately 1.5 meters). This width provides a stable walkway that minimizes tipping under offset loads. Each standard module offers balanced buoyancy to support up to 200 lbs (approx. 90 kg), ensuring excellent stability for personnel and gear.

Will the modular system work in shallow water?

Yes. The modular dock can be used in shallow zones, including areas with mud or sand flats that dry out during low tide. The cubes draw only 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm) of water when unloaded. The critical factor is ensuring enough water depth at the entry end of the dock to allow watercraft to safely drive off the platform. At low tide, the modular system can rest directly on soft mud or sand bottoms without damaging the structure.
