Can I get a Floating Dock system if there is no dealer in my area?
Yes, in areas where there is not a local dealer presence, we can ship your Floating Dock system directly to your local freight terminal for pickup.
Can I leave my dock in the water during winter?
Absolutely. The dock can be left in all year round, even in salt water. The Floating Dock system is designed to be left in the ice for the winter. The special design of the cube allows the dock to pop up on top of the ice.
How does moving ice affect the system?
The key issue when it comes to ice is water flow. If there is a heavy current or moving ice, ask yourself: "When the ice thaws, does it just dissipate back into the water or are there large blocks of heavy flow ice moving around that would damage stationary structures?" If it thaws without heavy flow, you can leave our dock in all year. If there is heavy moving flow ice, the ice will tear out and wash away any structure, so the dock should be pulled out before winter.
How many cubes wide is needed for a stable walking platform?
The cubes can be configured as a floating platform, gangway, finger pier, or any customized layout. A walking platform must be at least three cubes wide. The dock is extremely stable and easily supports body weight due to the balanced buoyancy of each cube (about 200 lbs / 90 kg per single cube, and up to 350 kg/m² for complete systems).
Will the system work in shallow water?
Yes, you can use the dock anywhere you can drive your craft. The cubes only draw about 2 to 4 inches of water when empty. The minimum functional water depth is measured at the back of the dock where you drive onto it. The dock needs to flex to drive on top of it. The system is fine resting on the seabed at low tide, as long as there is enough depth at the stern for the boat to back off when afloat.
