How does the Floating Dock system hold up to typhoons?
Floating Dock's modular design and superior quality hold up quite well in a typhoon depending on the installation. Our customers are reporting excellent results for the docks that were hit hand in all the typhoon. The individual modules distribute wave energy, preventing structural failure, unlike rigid wood or concrete docks.
Can I get the Floating Dock system if there is no dealer in my area?
Yes. In the areas where there is not a local dealer presence, we can ship your Floating Dock system directly to your local freight terminal or designated destination for customer pickup or local transport.
Can I leave my dock in during the winter time?
Absolutely. The dock can be left in all year, even in saltwater environments. The Floating Dock system is designed to be left in the ice for the winter. The special design of the cube allows the dock to pop up on top of the ice when water freezes, preventing crushing.
How does ice affect the system?
The key factor for winter installations is water flow. If there is a heavy current or moving ice, consider whether the ice thaws in place or forms large, moving blocks that could damage stationary structures. If the ice thaws in place, you can leave our dock in all year. If moving ice is an issue, we recommend dismantling and storing the dock for winter.
How many cubes wide is needed for a stable walking platform?
The cubes can be configured as a floating platform, gangway, finger pier, or custom layout. For a stable walking platform, we recommend a width of at least three cubes. This width ensures excellent stability and load balance, easily supporting body weight thanks to the buoyancy of each cube (approx. 200 lbs / 90 kg per single block).
Will the system work in shallow water?
Yes. You can use the dock anywhere you can navigate your watercraft. Without a craft, the cubes draw only 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm) of water. The minimum functional water depth is measured at the back of the dock where you drive on, as the dock needs space to flex. The system can rest safely on the seabed during low tide, provided there is enough depth at the stern for the boat to back off when floating.
