How does the Interlocking Floating Dock system hold up to typhoons?
Floating Dock's modular design and superior material quality hold up quite well in a typhoon depending on the installation. The flexibility of our interlocking nodes allows the system to roll with wave energy instead of trying to fight it. Our customers report excellent results for docks that were hit head-on by severe typhoons, when they were anchored properly using our heavy-duty marine piles or concrete weights.
Can I get a Floating Dock system if there is no dealer in my area?
Yes. In areas where there is not a local dealer presence, we can ship your Floating Dock system directly to your local freight terminal for pickup, or arrange container delivery to your construction site. Our team will provide all the necessary technical layout drawings and assembly instructions.
Can I leave my dock in the water during winter freezing?
Absolutely. The dock can be left in the water year-round, even in saltwater environments. The Floating Dock system is designed to be left in the ice for the winter. The angled shape of the bottom of each cube allows the dock to pop up on top of the ice when pressure builds up, rather than being crushed by it.
How does ice movement affect the system?
The key factor with ice is water flow. If there is moving ice, ask yourself: "When the ice thaws, does it just melt back into the water level, or are there large blocks of heavy flowing ice that would damage stationary docks?" If you answer "Yes" to the first part, you can leave our dock in all year. If there is heavy moving ice, we recommend disconnecting the modules and towing them to a protected bay or storing them on land during the winter thaw.
How many cubes wide are needed for a stable walking platform?
The cubes can be configured as a floating platform, gangway, finger pier, or any custom shape. For safety and stability, a walking platform must be at least three cubes wide (1.5 meters). This width provides stability and balances the buoyancy of each cube (each cube supports about 90 kg / 200 lbs).
Will the system work in shallow water?
Yes, you can use the dock anywhere you can navigate your craft. The cubes only draw about 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 inches) of water without load. At low tides, the system is designed to rest safely on the seabed. The important factor is having enough depth at the edge of the dock to allow your boat to safely back off.
