How does the Floating Dock system hold up to typhoons?
Our modular floating dock systems perform well in heavy weather due to their flexible interlocking structure. During storm surges or typhoons, the modular design allows waves to pass through by dispersing kinetic energy across hundreds of flexible structural joints. Unlike rigid docks that crack under heavy strain, our HDPE floating grids flex with water movement. Excellent results are regularly reported from coastal projects exposed to direct typhoon impacts.
Can I get a Floating Dock system if there is no dealer in my area?
Yes. In markets without a local dealer network, we ship directly from our production plant in China to your closest marine port or local freight terminal for convenient pickup. Our sales team manages all shipping, customs paperwork, and delivery coordination.
Can I leave my dock in during the winter time?
Absolutely. The dock is engineered to remain in the water year-round, including in freezing climates and saltwater environments. The shape and design of the floating cubes allow the system to pop up and rest safely on top of expanding ice sheets.
How does moving ice affect the system?
The main risk with ice is water flow and ice movement. If winter ice in your area thaws and dissipates back into the water level, the dock can remain in place year-round. However, if your site experiences heavy spring currents with large blocks of moving ice, these can shear stationary docks. In such conditions, we recommend detaching the system and storing it onshore during winter.
How many cubes wide is required for a stable walking platform?
For safe and stable walking access on public walkways or finger piers, we recommend a minimum width of three cubes (approximately 1.5 meters). This width, combined with the balanced buoyancy of each individual cube (offering approximately 200 lbs / 90 kg of lift per single block), ensures high stability and prevents tipping.
Will the system work in shallow water?
Yes, our modular systems work in shallow water. With the vessel removed, the cubes draft only 2 to 4 inches (50 to 100mm) of water. If the tide drops completely, the dock can rest directly on soft mud or sandy bottom surfaces. The key requirement is that there must be sufficient depth at the dock's rear entry point to allow the vessel to drive off safely.
