Can I leave my modular dock in the water during winter freezing?
Absolutely. The dock is designed to remain in the water year-round, including in freezing conditions and saltwater environments. The modular cube walls are flexible enough to withstand ice pressure, and the geometry of the cubes allows the platform to rise up on top of the ice sheet rather than being crushed by it.
How does dynamic ice movement affect the system?
The key factor regarding ice is water flow and movement. If you are dealing with static water where the ice thaws in place without significant current or wind-driven ice flow, you can leave the dock in all year. If your water body experiences heavy spring ice flows or large moving ice blocks that could shear off structural pilings, the dock should be unpinned and stored on land during the winter to avoid damage.
How many cubes wide do I need for a stable walking platform?
For general walking platforms, gangways, or finger piers, we recommend a minimum width of three cubes (typically 1.5 meters). This width provides excellent lateral stability and walking safety, easily supporting multiple pedestrians due to the balanced buoyancy of each individual cube.
Will the system work in shallow water conditions?
Yes. Unloaded, the modular cubes draw only 5 to 10 cm of water. As long as there is sufficient depth at the tail of the dock to allow your boat hull or PWC to float off during launching, the system is suitable for shallow environments. The docks can rest flat on the muddy or sandy bottom during low tides without sustaining damage.
