Can I leave my dock in during the winter time?

Absolutely. The dock system can remain in the water year-round, even in freezing climates. High-density polyethylene features high low-temperature impact strength and can withstand temperatures down to -60°C. The patented wedge shape of our modular cubes allows the dock to slide up and rest on top of forming ice sheets, rather than being crushed by lateral ice compression.

How does ice affect the system?

The primary concern with winter ice is water flow and ice movement. If the water freezes statically without significant currents or shifting ice fields, the dock can safely stay in place. However, if your location experiences heavy spring currents with large, moving ice blocks, those shifting flows can shear off anchoring structures. In these conditions, we recommend disconnecting the modular pins and towing the dock structure to a protected harbor or hauling it onto land for the winter season.

How many cubes wide are required for a stable walking platform?

For safe walking and structural stability, we recommend a minimum width of three cubes (approx. 1.5 meters). This width provides a stable walking platform, preventing excessive tipping when a person walks near the edge. Will the system work in shallow water?

Yes, the dock operates effectively in shallow environments. The modular cubes draw only 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 inches) of water when unloaded. When boat docking or craft drive-ons occur, the dock flexes slightly to absorb the vessel's weight. The minimum required water depth is determined by the draft of your boats. During low tide, the system can safely rest flat on soft sand or mud bottoms, and will float back up naturally as the tide returns.
